Meet Dr. Spaulding

Dr. Jocelyn Spaulding proudly offers her expertise with the latest developments in dental care. Since she was a young child, she traveled throughout the US and Europe and was fascinated by the beauty she saw in art, architecture, and from mother nature. She realized then that a combination of physical elements worked together to create such unique and pleasing exquisiteness. Her desire to create beauty and her genuine concern to help people improve their health aspired her to become a dentist.

A strong student throughout her academic career, Dr. Jocelyn Spaulding has consistently demonstrated excellence in her academic and professional work. She took a balanced approach to her undergraduate studies, studying music through the piano and triple majoring in Anthropology, Biology, and Geology as well as minoring in Chemistry. During her time as an undergraduate, she undertook biomedical research on the processes triggering apoptosis. Despite the rigorous academic agenda, she graduated with honors.

She then enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned both a Master’s degree in Education and a Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) in four years. During her time studying for her Master’s and Doctorate Degrees, Dr. Spaulding participated in an independent honors research program at the Infectious Diseases Division of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Spaulding earned externships at the University of Washington in Seattle, Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, and the Universitat Witten/Herdecke in Germany before completing an internship and residency at the New York Hospital Medical Center, an affiliate of Weill Cornell Medical College.

Since August 2004, Dr. Jocelyn Spaulding has maintained a private dental practice specializing in cosmetic and family dentistry in the Atlanta suburb of Decatur, Georgia where she and her team specialize in maintaining and restoring beautiful smiles. Working personally with each patient, Dr. Jocelyn Spaulding helps every individual craft a customized treatment plan. She is one of the youngest members of the Academy of General Dentistry to receive the status of Fellowship. Today, Dr. Spaulding regularly participates in continuing education courses given by some of the top leaders in the dental field. She attends numerous dental seminars and conventions and is a member of a number of professional organizations.

Dr. Spaulding’s personal collective experience has undoubtedly shaped her philosophy on life and affects how she approaches and takes care of others. Simply put, her life has been strongly influenced by cancer. Her younger brother was diagnosed with hodgkins disease when he was 8 years old. He succumbed to the disease and died from cancer when he was 16. Dr. Spaulding also received cancer treatment, first as a teenager and again as a adult. Her personal experience and her involvement with other individuals and their families battling the disease has left a strong impression and consequentially inspired her to be a more understanding, caring, and mindful practitioner.

Through her dental practice, Jocelyn Spaulding approaches her work with compassion. Dr. Spaulding uses her experience with cancer to help her comprehend how people feel. She knows that people should be heard, cared for, and understood. She is truly concerned for her patient’s well-being and strives to make their lives better by providing excellent work, high quality materials, and practicing conservative therapy as opposed to over-treatment. She truly lives by the words that she wants to help others. Sometimes it is distrust from a previous experience, sometimes it is embarrassment of their smile or oral health, but whatever the case, it is her wish to help them gain a healthy smile that will last. She’s witnessed in person that a person’s smile not only affects their physical presentation but also impacts their emotional well-being. Dr. Spaulding and her team made a pledge to help others feel and look unblemished, beautiful, and healthy. Dr. Spaulding considers a positive experience a top priority for her patients and maintains an environment that promotes such warmth. That environment centers on her commitment to high-quality care.

Her priorities in life are her Faith, Family, and Friends. Dr. Spaulding strongly believes in maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise and diet. She is a supporter of YSC (Young Survival Coalition) - an organization of young women facing breast cancer, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the ASPCA, and Atlanta Pet Rescue. She enjoys playing with her two dogs, Ling-Ling and Lily, and spending time with her Husband Anthony and Daughter Caitlin.

"I am so grateful that I survived cancer and I want to leave something positive in this world by helping others in this small way. How? By knowing that I am providing honest work and quality care."
